Back from Vacation

Back from vacation from Hawaii’s 9th island – Las Vegas. Spent my birthday there with my wife as we did the usual things – shop, eat, & gamble. I was back at work today so that means I didn’t hit The Big One. In fact, didn’t even hit the small one. Although the wife and I did pretty good and came away losing only the “pocket” money we took up. I did have to cash a check there the very last night but was able to make it back so that was a wash.

Did the usual shopping at Belz, Premium Outlet in downtown, Meadows mall, and Trader Joe’s. Due to the pending thunderstorms, we didn’t chance driving out to Primm this time. And we missed our usual meal at In-n-Out Burger.

The weather was okay topping out at around 108° considering it was 117°+ just a few days earlier. The sky was mostly overcast while we were there and streaks of lightning could be seen on Saturday night. But only a few drops of rain while we were out and about.

On the plane flight over, the PA announced that there were 3 local high school basketball teams heading out to LV for a tournament. The Las Vegas TV news mentioned something about the tournament with teams from all over the world. Could’ve fooled me. I didn’t see too many of them around. That is until I went into the Nike store. Man, I’ve never felt so short. What do these kids eat? Heightmax?

For some reason, we saw our share of accidents too. A few rear enders, a truck that looked like it hit a pedestrian and a taxi that thought it could beat a left turn from an oncoming SUV. Talk about T-boned.

Overall it was a nice way to spend my birthday - with just my wife and me. We ate, shopped, gambled, laughed, and had an overall good time together. What more could I as for?

I guess hitting D4 B16 On3 would be nice…

Happy birthday, l337! What a nice way to spend your birthday, on a trip with your wife!

It sounds like you're a seasoned traveler of Las Vegas. I hope that one of these days you'll hit "the Big One!"
